Echoes and Resonance is an exhibition featuring the work of Latvian artists Liena Bondare and Paulis Liepa.
Bondare's work seeks to reveal hidden meanings in everyday objects, actions, and rituals. She uses common social structures such as playgrounds and characters from popular culture to challenge her viewers, and herself, to look beyond their attachments and bring fresh analysis to the otherwise overlooked details of their world. The more interpretations her work generates, the better she feels about its effectiveness.
The graphic work of Paulis Liepa bridges the space between fine art, printmaking, and graphic design seamlessly and leaves viewers questioning exactly how to quantify what they are seeing. Blending the domestic with the fantastic, Leipa utilizes shape, object, color, type, and texture equally to build images that seem simultaneously contemporary and timeless.
